Rescued books as artefacts
Part of the Telling Stories: Hastings project, Tina Hill’s work entitled Excavating Babel is a 12ft high tower of ‘unwanted’ books which Tina has rescued then built into an extraordinary sculpture.
The work references the story in Genesis (11, 1-9) where mankind builds a tower to reach God and in so doing incurred his displeasure.
