Coffee morning
BEAUTIFUL Battle will hold a Coffee Morning at the Almonry today (Saturday), at 10.30am. A tombola and plant stall will be there on the day.
Beautiful Battle chairman and committee members will be present to discuss the group’s plans for the floral displays to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, as well as Battle’s entry to the 2012 South East in Bloom Competition.

Hide AdTHE annual general meeting of Battle Memorial Halls will take place at the hall in High Street, Battle, on Monday May 28, starting at 7pm.
All are welcome to attend.
Railway day
ROTHER Valley Railway, which is restoring the rail link between Robertsbridge and Bodiam, will hold an open day on Sunday from 1pm at Robertsbridge Village Hall, Station Road.
The event will allow visitors to see and hear all about the achievements and plans for the restoration project.
At 1.15pm there will be a welcome speech by Simon Longhurst, chairman of Salehurst Parish Council, followed by a Power Point presentation by the Rother Valley Railway.

Hide AdA guided tour of the trackbed to Northbridge Street will follow.
Tough shoes or boots are recommended.
There will also be the chance to ride on the miniature steam railway.
Village market
BRIGHTLING Market will return to the village hall today (Saturday), 10am-noon.
Local foods and gifts will be on sale, including vegetables, fruits, eggs, honey, pies, cakes, bread, meat, preserves, watercolours, books, cushions, cards, candles, soaps and more.

Hide AdThe popular Cafe Corner will be in operation again, with a new hot chocolate with Belgian chocolate booster and cinnamon toast.
Fun day
A CHARITY fun day to raise awareness of ME will take place at Robertsbridge Cricket Ground on May 7.
The event is being organised by 18-year-old Hayley Keen, who has the condition.
The event will include a barbecue, cakes, raffles, tombola, face painting, bouncy castles, eliminator, music, plate smashing and a 24 hour cricket match, starting at 5pm on May 6, with a big finish on the fun day.
Profits will be split between Young People with ME and Bliss, a charity which helps premature and sick babies.
