Cuadrilla Balcombe policing costs up to £2.4M
Police say that this figure is estimated to be the total cost for the operation up to yesterday (Thursday 5 September).
Superintendent Lawrence Hobbs said: “We will continue to remain open and transparent about the cost to Sussex Police of this operation.

Yesterday a tripod was erected in the middle of the B2036, blocking the road for five hours. A 29-year-old man, who was occupying the tripod was arrested by officers.
After this incident police enforced a spontaneous Section 14 notice in the area of the drilling site. The notices, under the Public Order Act 1986, can be issued where the senior police officer present believes the direction is necessary to prevent disorder, damage, disruption or intimidation.
Two other people were also arrested.
