A police officer has reported over a dozen driving offences in the Chichester district and Bognor Regis.

Sussex Roads Police officer Pete May said a driver provided a positive test for cannabis and cocaine following a single-vehicle crash in Bognor Regis on Friday (April 23).

Another driver in the town was caught travelling at 40mph for three miles in lane two of a 70mph dual-carriageway 'with no other traffic nearby'.

PC May also conducted speed checks at Duncton, near Petworth, on Friday.

In a post on social media, he wrote: “Speed checks on the A285 Duncton with #CC491, 13 vehicles stopped in excess of 40mph in a 30mph residential limit.

“Highest being 57mph and many in the mid 40s and low 50s.”

Addressing a motorcyclist, who overtook on the solid white line and didn’t stop, the police officer said: “You’ll be getting a letter in the post.”

PC May also spotted 'some anti-social driving' on the A27 in Chichester on Monday (April 26).

The driver was stopped and then arrested after he failed a 'drug wipe', testing positive for cocaine.
