An 89-per-cent pass rate in the maths GCSE delighted Bishop Luffa head teacher Nick Taunt.

“With standards rising and exams becoming tougher, particularly in English and maths, it is particularly good to see 81 per cent of the year group gaining A*-C grades in English and 89% in maths,” he said today (August 20).

Overall, 76 per cent of pupils gained at least five GCSE A*-C grades including English and maths.
