The Care Quality Commission (CQC) said Bishops Lodge, in Fearon Road, had a ‘clear set of values based on respect for people’, supported people to pursue their own interests and praised the level of freedom it encourages residents to exercise.
Inspectors said residents had a ‘good rapport’ with staff and the registered manager at the home, which provides accommodation and personal care to a maximum of six adults with learning disabilities.

Bishops Lodge, which is run by Craegmoor, part of the Priory Group, offers specialist training available to staff.
New team members undertake new ‘care certificate’ training, and all attend positive behaviour support training, the CQC report, published this week, added.
Julie Sinden, service manager, said: “We are delighted with this inspection outcome. Staff, residents and their relatives have an excellent bond, and it is pleasing that the CQC recognises that this creates a very supportive and effective care regime.”
