IT was the end of an era on Shoreham Beach last Wednesday as Pauline Karadzas retired from Paules Newsagents and Post Office in Ferry Road, after 42 years' service.

Pauline had been the sub-postmistress serving the eastern half of Shoreham Beach at Paules since January 3, 1963, but she actually joined the Post Office in Portslade in 1949.

She said: "I have always felt honoured to be part of such a truly marvellous organisation and it has been my life, and great joy throughout the years."
