LETTER: Police poll card a waste of money

However, closer examination revealed that I was being asked to choose a new Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex Police.
This is totally absurd and unnecessary waste of public money. I wonder how many extra policemen could have been bought for the same money? If Sainsbury’s want to appoint a new manger, they don’t send out voting slips to their customers. One of the directors will sift through the list of applicants and select the one he thinks will best fit the bill.

Hide AdI do wish people responsible for spending my money on ‘exciting new innovations’ would think before dreaming up some new gem.
When the local elections are held for members of the district council, the candidates try to outbid each other in the number of policemen they are going to add to improve law and order. What a pity no-one had the sense to put the idea for this little piece of nonsense into the nearest waste paper basket.
