I am very much an advocate of our primary schools to been seen and heard that they are doing well as there is much negativity at times.

So it should not have been a surprise that when I was invited to the year-six Pride of River Beach award ceremony that it was going to be good. Well, it was a surprise as it was better than good, it was outstandingly good. The year-six children organised the ceremony themselves from the comperes to the award presenters, and the singing was just exquisite. The great part of this is that the children chose who was going to be their hero. Surprisingly enough, even that had a twist to it as it was not just local people that they chose. Nationally, Mr Tim Peake received an award for being inspirational, an award which his parents collected on his behalf for obvious reasons. Other awards went to a nurse from Great Ormond street for the care and support that she had given to one of our local children and a mum because she is a child minder and carer and so the list went on.

I would just like to say a big thank you for the invitation and to all those who were involved in putting this ceremony together especially to all the children who took part. Carry on the good work and you shall all go far.
