Painters mark half a century of exhibitions
RYE Tuesday Painters Club celebrated the landmark of a 50th annual exhibition in the town this month at the St Mary’s Centre in Lion Street.
The club, which comprises of around 150 amateur artists from Rye and the surrounding area, was founded in 1961.
This year’s exhibition was opened by Club president Dr Richard Manwaring Baines, on August 16, and ended on Monday. Rye Mayor Shaun Rogers attended the opening ceremony.
This year’s exhibition was organised by Linda Graham and members enjoyed a special cake to mark the anniversary, which was cut by Dr Manwering Baines.
