Robin Hall, one of Horsham Matters’ youngest supporters, raised £118 after completing a sponsored sleepout, and then used the money to buy food and gifts for the Horsham District Foodbank Christmas parcels which will be packed and delivered in mid-December.
Alice Hall, Robin’s mum, said: “Robin had a really lovely time choosing the things for children and as a child himself, he had a clear idea of what other children might like. We do hope they bring joy and love to families this Christmas.”

Hide AdIn October half term week, Horsham Foodbank provided 75 emergency food parcels which fed 193 children and 123 adults from 75 families of children at risk of going hungry, which were referred to Horsham Matters by their schools. This was on top of the charity’s ongoing provision of food support to the community which is running at an all-time high.
Paula Daly, community fundraiser at Horsham Matters, said: “I felt very touched that a six-year-old would want to help other children so much.
“Food support in school holidays is now an ongoing need and Horsham Matters is currently focused on sourcing supplies for the provision of up to 350 Christmas food parcels which need to be packed mid-December for pre-Christmas delivery.
“During lockdown, foodbank donations can still be made either in the collection bin in your supermarket store or into the crates outside the donation centre, Blatchford Road, Monday to Friday.”
