A charity in Eastbourne is set to celebrate its 75th anniversary this week and will be hosting an open day with musicians and dancers to mark the milestone.

Age Concern Eastbourne is celebrating its anniversary this Friday (October 27) at its William and Patricia Venton Centre in Junction Road.

At the event, which will run from 10am-5pm, there will be an exhibition of photographs and artefacts of Eastbourne from the last 80 years along with paintings referencing the town and the surrounding area made by the charity’s art group.

The charity, which aims to improve the experience of later life for people in the area, will also be visited by the Deputy Lieutenant of Sussex who will be planting a cherry tree in the site’s new community garden – which has been reclaimed by the staff and volunteers of Age Concern Eastbourne.

This will be followed with the mayor cutting a celebratory cake.
