But the cat ended up breaking free by itself without help from the emergency services. The firefighters were called out to John Street, Brighton just after 8pm. A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “The RSPCA was called about a cat which was trapped under a car bonnet in Brighton on Wednesday. “One of our officers attended but was unable to reach the cat to set her free so she requested the help of the fire services who kindly attended. “In the meantime, the owners of the cat happened to be out looking for her and when the cat heard her owner's voice she actually wriggled herself free of the car and ran towards her owners, much to their relief. “Our officer checked the cat over but was pleased to find there were no obvious injuries. The fire services were notified that the cat was now free and we thanked them for their assistance.”
