Gatwick environmental group appoints former Gurkha as president

CAGNE, the umbrella aviation community and environment group, announced the appointment of Sir Nicholas White as president of the group for Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
Sir Nicholas, who was elected as an independent for Dormansland and Felcourt in East Surrey to Tandridge District Councillor in 2018 and has much experience of Gatwick operations having lived close to the Gatwick flight path, the group said.

Hide AdSir Nicholas said: “I have watched with interest the growth of this community group and how it remains true to its ethos of not moving noise from one area over another and being fair to all communities.
“This is why I am extremely happy to be playing a role within this committee to ensure airspace and the impact of Gatwick’s operations on the environment and the people’s wellbeing is tackled in a fair and balanced fashion.”
The Committee also welcomes Lisa Morris of Smallfield who has lived under a departure route for over 15 year and is CEO of the national Greyhound Trust charity.
CAGNE has also appointed a legal and planning team to work with Leigh Day, a London specialist legal firm (appointed in October 2018 when the Master Plan was launched).
