Hastings artist brightens Bexhill with woodland mural

Luke Brabants was commissioned to make the masterpiece on the old lighting shop next to Sackville Road bridge. The mural depicts an abundance of wildlife native to Sussex. Luke said: “The mural project was done to brighten up a neglected building in a part of town that usually wouldn’t get looked at. “The old shop had not been touched in years and was an eyesore for the public. Luckily W.ave Arts Bexhill got in touch and through Network Rail commissioned me to beautify the spot. “The idea was to create a mural which could be used as an escapism. The meandering pathway through the woodlands does just that and lets you get lost in nature, which is recognisable as a Sussex woodland. “On the shop front side the birds (kingfisher, blue tit, robin, and green warbler) are all birds which can all be found with in the East Sussex area. “The birds were created at my studio, and then put up when painting the forest towards the end of August with huge help and thanks to W.ave Arts.” Luke Brabants is a mural artist from Hastings. Working on canvases large and small from walls to vehicles, his work can be seen up and down the country. He added: “The Bexhill woodland birds were a real joy to paint and it was a fantastic feeling being able to leave a positive mark on the town. “Talking to all the passers-by was a great feeling knowing they were thrilled to see the new art and possibly inspired some new future artists.
