WORTHING BIRDMAN 2012: Video
A bit of rain, thunder and lightning did not dampen the enthusiasm of the spectators, who lined up to see those in fancy dress, in the Kingfisher class, have their turn at flight.
Inspector Gadget, Captain Jack Sparrow and the Queen and Prince Philip were just some of the “stars” who made the brave leap from Worthing’s Pier.

That distance was not reached, but first prize was won by Ron Freeman, who pumped his fist in delight after flying 68.7 metres, with 10.12 seconds in the air, despite wind speeds of around three knots.
In second place overall was Roger Warren, who flew 73.4 metres, with 10.59 seconds in the air.
Ron was able to win overall after he flew 85.7 metres yesterday (Saturday, August 18), compared with Roger’s 74.97 yesterday and 73.4 metres today.
