ANOTHER 40lb plus carp has been caught from Sussex from a secret venue which most carp anglers are trying to locate.

ANOTHER 40lb plus carp has been caught from Sussex from a secret venue which most carp anglers are trying to locate. It follows the capture of the huge fish landed by John Hammond of Saltdean and reported a few weeks ago.

The latest fish was hooked by Mark Kitson of Sovereign Baits and remarkably enough was landed on 6lb line and float fished sweetcorn. I always fish with sweetcorn and to prove I do not spend a lot of money on bait, it was a 6p tin from Tesco, said Mark who took an hour and 37 minutes to play the fish to the net.

Mark who will not reveal where the fish was caught because the owner asked him not to, has also landed roach to 2lb 14oz and rudd to 3lb 4oz from the same water.

At Broadhurst Lake Horsted Keynes members of Isfield and District Angling Club have been catching some huge bream which have scaled up to 8lb. Most of the fish were hooked on maggots while feeder fishing.

On the pike scene things have been a bit slow on the Rother and Wallers Haven though one angler from Edenbridge did manage to catch a predator of 20lb 6oz from the Ironbridge stretch of the Wallers on a dead bait.

Brick Farm Lake has produced a rainbow trout of 13lb 12oz to Ken Driscoll of Battle which he caught in a seven fish catch while fishing a Montana. It was a personal best for Ken and is the biggest of several rainbows from the water over 10lb.
