Bashers win Alan White Team Handicap trophy by just nine points

Mid Sussex Table tennis stars have taken part in The Alan White Team Handicap Competition.

The competition is run as a sealed handicap event with the total points from each player with the handicap added or subtracted from the final score.

With the first two rounds of the table tennis ever popular team handicap competition played in October the semi final and final were played last Sunday with the following results.

The first semi final saw the team of Denise’s Menaces boys all under sixteen with Ben Worley, Luke Gallagher and Charlie Hough taking on the senior team Magiks Mel Sims, Tony Turk and Alistair Blue.

The boys overcame a massive handicap of 97 points and when the envelope was opened Menaces won by just nine points to go into the final.

The other semi saw the Bashers with Marc Burman and the Bridger sisters Annabel and Kate taking on the Tigers with Kath Owston, Samantha Monk and David Lewis.

Despite Tigers best efforts they could not cope with the determination of Marc and his ‘Merry Girls’ Annabel and Kate and lost by sixteen points.

On to the final battle, and with so much junior talent with five of the six being juniors and the league singles champion it was bound to be a feast of table tennis for the spectators.
