Locals dominate Bexhill Open singles
Stuart Holland jnr, of Polegrove Bowling Club, clinched the championship singles after getting the better of Michael Stone (Bexhill BC) 21-11 after 19 ends.
Stone was up 7-6 after nine ends before Holland scored two threes to lead 12-7, and then over the next five ends added another eight shots to open up a 20-8 advantage and eventually close the game out.

Hide AdFour players from local clubs, which nobody could recollect happening before, contested the semi-finals. Holland beat Lee Heitzman (Spartan) 21-16 after 26 ends, and Stone came back from 16-9 down to pip Phil Saunders (Spartan) 21-20.
Consequently, Heitzman and Saunders won the trophy for the best local player, and Scott Edwards (Hove and Kingsway), Barry Fordham (Eastbourne) and Jack Crawford (Carreras), who all lost in the quarter-finals, won the trophy for the best visiting player for players who did not reach the final.
The championship pairs winners were Rosemount’s Ken Bones and Trevor Roberts who triumphed 21-10 after leading all the way against Carl Dyer (Spartan) and Stone.
The triples winners were Bill Bray (Spartan), Nick Wingfield (White Rock) and Charles Wright (Eastbourne) who had a very convincing 21-8 win over the Victoria trio of Brian Beere, Brian Henty and John Pannett.

Hide AdThe consolation pairs was won by the Hayes duo of Sue Norman and Richard Tedder who triumphed 15-13 against the Bexhill BC partnership of Ray Hemsley and Keith Richardson.
