Anglers fishing out from the Sovereign Harbour have been catching some large tope in the past couple of weeks.

The fish have followed the mackerel shoals into the local waters offshore between Beachy Head and the Light Tower.Ross Parsons and Jim Whippy each boated specimen sized fish from their boat ‘Lucky G’ estimated to weigh around 35lb.

Bait used was a mackerel head and the fish were carefully returned after a quick picture.

It was the first tope Ross had ever caught and gave him an exciting time before it was lifted aboard.
